Artist Turns Barbie into Upcycled Jewelry

Never in a million years would I have thought old Barbies (or Ken) would be turned into use (other than play), until I came across the upcycled jewelry from Margaux Lange. Barbie arms, boobs, butts, lips, ears and legs are turned into jewelry pieces, the artists calls “Plastic Body Series”. Her “Plastic Body Series Jewelry Collection” is the result of a life-long fascination with Barbie, and a desire to re-purpose mass produced materials into handmade, wearable Art.After deconstructing Babrie, the artist creates handmade rings, necklaces, earrings and brooches, with pieces and parts. While I find the use of the plastic princess creative, I am not sure I would ever sport Barbie boobs around my own neck!

Thanks for the blog nod. My jewelry is intended as wearable Art that sparks a conversation. It takes a courageous, BOLD personality to wear it, no doubt about it, but I assure you, those women are out there and they wear it well. Why be boring?! That’s my feeling.
