November 22, 2009 | Filled Under Green Decorating Ideas

I had so much fun putting this eco-friendly living room together this week. When I was thinking about ideas for color scheme I found this beautiful eco-friendly rug with gorgeous colors and decided to build this weeks green decorating room around the rug. The combination of chocolate, sage green, pale yellow and the bold pinkish-orange color look amazing together. I brought in some reclaimed wood, wool and bamboo fabrics and fair trade handmade items.

All these pieces fit really well together, muchos kudos to the designer.

I particularly like the reclaimed teak candle holder from Overstock, but it is sold out :( does anyone know where else I could buy it from?

This is just a beautiful feel! The only thing missing is the river! The feeling this article provides would be decorators is one of casual comfort and calm beauty.

Yes, the rug looks kind of cool, a little to much 80′s for me, if another color I might like it better.

I think my favorite is #3 – the wall art. It is too bad that more people do not try and find alternative uses for materials that have finished their initial purpose.

This is a beautiful example of reuse. Thanks for sharing.

I always wonder what the story is behind an item too. Did the artist get started to make a statement about environmental reuse or were they on a shoe-string budget and found that reclaiming materials was the most affordable way to find a canvas to design on. Either way – I am glad that artist did. Very cool.
