H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccine and Pregnant Women
November 29, 2009 | Filled Under Womens Health
To get the H1N1 Swine Flu vaccine or not to, is a question plaguing many pregnant women. With U.S. health officials making pregnant women one of the highest priorities and doctors pushing for the vaccine, many pregnant women just do not know what to do. I strongly urge all pregnant women to do a lot of research before taking the plunge for the vaccine.
With inserts for the vaccines saying that the safety of these vaccines for pregnant women has not been established, I am still shocked physicians are suggesting pregnant women get the vaccine. I mean, they will not prescribe medication if it has not been tested on pregnant women, yet they are recommending a vaccine that could possibly be fatal to these women. Apparently they feel the risk of the H1N1 Flu outweigh the possible side effects.
Miscarriage reports from pregnant women who have taken the H1N1 swine flu vaccine are starting to roll in from all over the world. Women in all trimesters of pregnancy, are reporting miscarriage just hours of the vaccine. Others within days of getting the vaccine. These are women who have had healthy pregnancies up until the vaccine, which leads me to believe questions should be raised. Can we assume it was an adverse effect of the flu vaccine or was it just bad timing for these pregnant women?
Just weeks ago I was in my 9th month of pregnancy when my own physician began talks of giving me the vaccine. The first thing I did was get on the internet and start doing load of research. I am not a fan of vaccines (for my own personal reasons), but was very scared for the life of my unborn child, if I were to get the Swine Flu. News across the web about the affects of the vaccine and reports of miscarriage did a good of of scaring me into digging deeper into the real facts. After much research I opted to NOT get the vaccine.
Dr. Palevsky, a board certified pediatrician who utilizes a holistic approach to children’s wellness and illness, offers a live interview that Exposes Vaccine Myths. The National Expositor, delivers a disturbing article, Silence about Vaccine Deaths in Media is Due to the Confidential Contracts with Vaccine Manufacturers. Organic Health, recently posted stories from several women who suffered miscarriage shortly after receiving the vaccine, all whom believe the vaccine is to blame. (Shocking H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccine Miscarriage Stories From Pregnant Women)
ClinicalTrials.Gov, a service of the National Institute of Health reported a clinical study to determine vaccine safety in pregnant women and how the body reacts to different strengths of the H1N1 influenza vaccine. The results will be available July 2010. Participants will include approximately 120 healthy pregnant women, ages 18-39 years, in their second or third trimester of pregnancy. I am not sure why pregnant women in their 1st trimester are not a part of this study, as many women have reported miscarriage in the 1st trimester after getting the vaccine.
In this Fox News interview, a physician, who specializes in infectious diseases says the vaccine is more deadly than Swine Flu itself. He even says he will not allow his own children to receive the vaccine.
My advice for any pregnant women who is considering the vaccine is to do your research! You do not buy a car without doing research, and you should never allow any foreign matter into your body without doing your own research!
What are your thoughts on this topic? Do you think pregnant women should or should not get the H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccine? Do you think the reported miscarriages were due to the vaccine?

I received the H1n1 vaccine (my first flu vaccine ever) at about 6 weeks pregnant. This was my third pregnancy & I have had two healthy ones prior to it… A few weeks after receiving the vaccine I had an ultrasound that showed that the embryo had stopped growing around that same time I had received the vaccine. Since my HCG levels had not diminished, my doctor put me on progesterone supplements to see if we could get things moving. Didn’t help. Days later at about 730pm I began bleeding so badly, my fiance had to rush me to the ER where I had to spend the night in the most agonizing pain I have ever experienced in my life, and I was rushed to emergency surgery after nearly bleeding to death. Not only did we lose what would have been our precious baby, but my fiance & I were both literally scared to death not knowing if I was gonna make it. This happened on Dec 8th & I have wondered since about the possibility of the vaccine being to blame somehow… Also, my OBGYN (who has been an OB for nearly 40 years) said he had never seen such a case where my HCG levels & all of my OWN body’s hormones were moving along normal, yet the baby just STOPPED developing for no obvious reason. He couldn’t even make sense of this himself. I am glad I finally looked online, yet SHOCKED to see so many other women have experienced this! Now I REALLY feel there is a problem with this vaccine. I would NOT recommend that any pregnant woman get the H1N1 vaccine! It is just not worth the risk!!!
It is so sad to know that many women lost their babies as a result of the vaccine. Unsafe medications are definitely not advisable for pregnant women to prevent their babies’ life at risk.

mjUAma At last, someone comes up with the “right” answer!
Unfortunately many women don’t do their research and just take their doctor’s word for many things throughout their pregnancy. I would hope that women would really think through their options before making a decision. Just because the doctor recommends it, doesn’t mean they have to take the vaccine.

It blows my mind that doctors are telling pregnant women to get a vaccine that is clearly labeled as not tested. The sad thing is, the women who have miscarried due to the vaccine can not even turn around a sue. These poor women probably only took the vaccine because their doctors recommend it and now, have suffered a great loss.
I have never had a vaccine in my life and I am 39. My three children have not either. I truly believe the vaccines are nothing more than a way for the government to get more money and that half of the illnesses were created by the government themselves.
Cheryl,
I am still rather shocked doctors are even suggesting it when it is labeled as not being tested on pregnant women. It seems like a big risk to me, in the event something went wrong, which has for many pregnant women.
I also refused to get the Swine Flu vaccine. After I read a bunch of articles online I decided it was not for me. I am so sorry to hear of the women who lost their babies due to the lack of information provided by the Government and health care systems.
Hopefully more women will research the topic before getting the vaccine.
Pamela,
I have been trying to get an estimate of how many women do any research on it, but have not been successful. Many people feel if a doctor mentions it, it must be 100% safe.
I looked online for a few weeks doing research before I decided not to accept the Swine Flu shot and I feel like it was best for me.
My heart goes out to any pregnant women who has lost a baby after the vaccine, even if it were just coincidence, it is a shame any women has gone through it.
It seems the pattern is with 1st trimester pregnancies, so the government needs to get on some studies, so if in fact it is proven the vaccine caused the miscarriage, it can be stopped.
