Green Baby/Toddler Event #6; Silikids Review

Founded in 2006 by Stacey Feeley and Giulana Schwab, Silikids is the creator of fine practical and non-toxic children’s products. The mom-founded brand focuses on children’s products that are toxin free, hypoallergenic and made entirely of silicone. The modern line of BPA-free products are designed for ages newborn-10 years of age.

What’s so special about the use of silicone? It’s widely used in baby products such as nipples, spoons, pacifiers and in the medical field and cooking industry. Silicone is an environmentally friendly, green substance. Unlike petroleum based plastics, silicone is made from sand. From its manufacturing to its disposal, no harmful by-products are produced. Silicone also promotes reuse, which is a good ecological alternative to the current disposable culture.

Current Silikid Product Line
-Siliskins-universal silicone sleeves for glass or aluminum baby bottles
-Siliskin Bottles-4oz., 8 oz. and 9 oz. glass bottles covered with a Siliskin
-Silibibs-soft and easy to clean bibs made entirely from silicone and dishwasher safe
-Silipads-stylish silicone and cotton kneepads for crawlers and toddlers
-Siliskin Glass-a 6 oz. drinking glass covered in Siliskin for toddlers learning to use a “big kids” glass
-Silicup-the first glass sippy cup offering an innovative 3-in-1 drinking system with a thick Siliskin, bottle nipple for baby, sippy spout for toddler and travel cap for big kids.

The best part is all Silikids products are priced at less than $20.00 and are dishwasher safe, washer/dryer friendly and can be boiled for sterilization!

I was recently given the opportunity to test out the 6 oz. drinking glass for toddlers and the Silibibs baby bibs. I’ve got to hand it to Silikids these products are brilliant!

The Silibib is a MUST-HAVE for any mom, hands down! I have been so frustrated with cloth bibs I could scream! While they are reusable and can be tossed in the washing machine, they do not protect clothing very well, especially for messy eaters! I can not tell you how many times I have had to change baby G’s clothing because the cloth bib got wet and it soaked right into the bib and on to his clothes.

The Silibib protects clothing like a bib should! The silicone baby bib may get messy, but it keeps clothes protected! The best part is it wipes up with a breeze! No having to toss it in the washer and dirty another bib. Simply wipe it off and your done. At the end of the day, toss it into the dishwasher to sanitize it.

No staining an no plastic! The Silibib is available in four super-cool colors and retails for $12.95. These bibs are well worth the cost! Just 1 or 2 of these stylin’ baby bibs is all you’ll need to keep baby protected from messy clothes!

I also had the opportunity to review the Siliskin 6oz Glass Set!

The Siliskin-Glass is a great alternative to plastic drinkware. They are perfect for teaching little ones to use a cup and have a silicone protector to help prevent slips or breaks. These glasses are BPA-free and made from 100% food grade silicone. Glass is reusable and recyclable, making these a true eco-friendly products for kids! The Siliskin silicone cover is also recyclable through specialty recycling facilities, or you can send it back to Silikids and they will take care of the recycling!

The Glasses are sold as a set of four and also sold separately. For the older kids, the Siliskin-Glass is also sold in a 12 oz!

{My Thoughts On SiliKids}

As I said above, I think their products are brilliant. The products are made well and designed to help parents! The Silibib is a must-have for any parent and makes a great baby gift! I wish I would have known about Silikids earlier! Their products are affordable and eco-friendly, making my love for the company even stronger!

Silikids you rock! You get 5 stars in my opinion and I will recommend Silikids to everyone I know! If your not in the US, don’t worry, they ship internationally!

I especially love the glass concept! I picked up a cheapo tony ceramic pitcher and a few thick walled glasses from goodwill for my daughter to practice pouring, but I still worry about her breaking the glass and getting hurt!

alright my only conflict is with the glass cups/bottles. i know they have the sleeve but what happens if you really throw it? my LO has started chucking her items across the room and i would hate for these to shatter. does the bib snap or velcro? my LO can get both off but snaps last a little longer usually.

Shelley, Cloth bibs are more of a pain than they are worth! Especially for messy baby eaters. I am so glad I had the opportunity to try out the silibib, because I am hooked now and have finally found a bib that works.
