LED-holiday-lightsThe HolidayLEDs.com/Potter Park Zoo recycling program will begin on Friday, November 27th at 5 pm for the opening of the Wonderland of Lights event and will end on December 27, 2009. The Potter Park Zoo Christmas lights display features over 100,000 lights. Many of the lights are LED Christmas lights purchased from HolidayLEDs.com. Zoo officials have been working to convert all of its holiday lighting to conserve energy, money and as a part of its overall effort to make sure its events and operations are environmentally sustainable. The current display is a mix of LED and incandescent lighting but the Zoo hopes to convert its entire display to LED by 2012.

HolidayLED’s mission is to be the leading online retailer and information source for energy-efficient commercial and residential LED holiday, Christmas and decorative lighting.

Is there anything they can do with the old ones? It would be great to see though.

This is the second kind of program like this I have heard about. I wonder if this is only an energy initiative or if there is profit in this. Also, I wonder what they do with the old lights.
